Designed for Underfloor Air Distribution
The AF320 is designed for data centers that use a pressurized raised-floor plenum to deliver conditioned air into cold aisles and equipment intake areas.
Its 32% open area makes it a useful middle ground between standard perforated panels and much higher-open-area air grates. This allows facility teams to increase airflow in areas that require additional cooling without automatically moving to a 50%+ open-area grate.
The actual volume of air delivered through the panel will depend on factors such as:
- Underfloor static pressure
- Cooling-system capacity
- Damper position
- Cable and piping congestion
- Plenum leakage
- Rack airflow demand
- Cold-aisle containment
For a deeper explanation of the differences between panel types, see our guide to perforated raised floor panels vs. air grates.
Optional Airflow Control Dampers
The AF320 can be configured with optional airflow-control dampers, including:
- Top-adjusting slide dampers
- Opposed-blade dampers
Adjustable dampers allow facility teams to regulate airflow at individual floor-panel locations without removing the panel every time balancing changes are required.
This can be particularly useful in data centers where rack density or equipment configurations change over time.
Raised Floor Compatibility
The AF320 is available for compatible FS-Series and S-Series raised access floor systems and can be supplied in either 24-inch or 600 mm configurations.
Before ordering, verify:
- Exact panel dimensions
- Existing raised-floor manufacturer and model
- Panel thickness
- Pedestal and stringer configuration
- Finished floor height
- Required load rating
- Whether a damper is needed
A nominally similar airflow panel is not automatically interchangeable with an existing raised floor. If you are unsure which panel system you have, review our Raised Access Floor Panel Identification Guide.
Understructure Options
Depending on the installation, AF320 panels can be used with rigid-grid bolted stringer configurations including:
- 2′ Ă— 2′ systems
- 2′ Ă— 4′ systems
- 4′ Ă— 4′ basketweave systems
For new installations or larger system upgrades, see our guide to raised access floor systems for more information about panels, pedestals, stringers, finishes, and understructure configurations.
Compare ASM Data Center Airflow Panels
The AF320 sits between ASM’s 25% perforated steel panels and its 56% aluminum air grates, making it a strong choice when a facility needs more airflow than a standard 25% panel without moving to a high-open-area grate.
| Model | Open Area | Construction | Concentrated Load | Best Fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AF250 | 25% | Steel | 1,000 lbf | Standard 25% airflow / FS & S-Series |
| AF1250 | 25% | Steel | 1,250 lbf | Higher-load 25% airflow / FSD & SD-Series |
| AF320 | 32% | Steel | 1,500 lbf | Higher airflow with heavy-duty steel construction |
| AF500 / AF600 | 56% | Aluminum | 1,750 / 2,500 lbf | High-volume airflow and high-density cooling |
When Is the AF320 a Good Choice?
The AF320 is particularly well suited for:
- Data center cold aisles
- Server rooms using underfloor air distribution
- Areas requiring more airflow than standard perforated panels
- Raised floors requiring heavy-duty steel airflow panels
- Cleanroom and controlled-environment applications
- Existing FS-Series or S-Series systems
- Facilities that need adjustable airflow balancing
For substantially higher airflow requirements, a high-open-area grate may be more appropriate. Choose between panel types based on actual rack cooling demand and available underfloor pressure, not open-area percentage alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much open area does the ASM AF320 have?
The AF320 has a 32% open area, allowing it to deliver more conditioned air than many conventional perforated raised-floor panels while retaining heavy-duty steel construction.
What is the AF320’s load rating?
The AF320 is rated for a 1,500 lbf concentrated load, 800 psf uniform load, and 4,500 lbf ultimate load, with a 3:1 safety factor as listed in the manufacturer’s specifications.
Is the AF320 available with an airflow damper?
Yes. The AF320 can be supplied with top-adjusting slide dampers or opposed-blade dampers for adjustable airflow control.
Does the AF320 fit any 24-inch raised floor?
No. Matching nominal dimensions do not guarantee compatibility. Panel thickness, edge design, pedestal heads, stringers, and the existing floor system should all be verified before ordering.
Is the AF320 available in metric sizes?
Yes. The AF320 is available in both 24-inch and 600 mm configurations.
Availability & Fitment
Product availability varies by warehouse inventory. Large-quantity orders beyond available stock may require approximately 16–20 weeks for fulfillment.
Because airflow panels must match the existing raised-floor system correctly, please verify fitment before ordering. Airflow panels are non-returnable.
