Choose the Right Temperature-Control Configuration
The fan tray is available with several control options. Choose based on whether you want simple continuous exhaust, automatic temperature activation, variable fan control, or a more programmable ventilation setup.
| Configuration | How It Works | Best Fit |
| ON/OFF – No Temperature Controller | Runs all fans continuously at 100% whenever the unit is powered. | Simple installations where continuous exhaust is desired. |
| Basic Controllers (TC-BSC) | Includes two basic on/off controllers, currently described as set at 80°F and 90°F. Fans switch on at the set point and off approximately 2–3°F below it. | Server rooms that need straightforward automatic temperature activation. |
| Advanced LT (TC-ALT-3FN) | Controls three fan banks independently and can ramp fan speed as temperature rises. Provides selectable temperature modes and alarm settings. | Facilities that want more graduated airflow and reduced unnecessary fan operation. |
| Advanced System Controller | Programmable controller with alarm triggers/contact closures and advanced system-control functions. | Facilities requiring more sophisticated monitoring or control logic. |
| Advanced Ventilation Controller – 110/220V | High-voltage on/off controller used to control the outlet powering the fan tray. | Applications that need line-voltage ventilation control. |
| Advanced Ventilation Controller – 12V DC | 12V DC version of the advanced ventilation-control option. | Applications requiring low-voltage control architecture. |
What’s Included
The core ceiling-grid fan assembly includes:
→ Drop ceiling fan housing
→ Nine-fan panel
→ Power supply configuration appropriate to the selected version
→ Selected controller hardware, when a controller-equipped version is purchased
→ The exact power-supply and controller package varies by configuration. Review the selected product variation before checkout and contact DCFT if you need help choosing the appropriate controller.
Standard Fan Tray vs. HyperMax High-Output Model
For higher-heat-load environments, DCFT also offers the separate HyperMax/Hyper Flow ceiling-grid fan tray. The high-output model is listed at up to 1,000 CFM, compared with the lower-output standard unit on this page.
| Standard Ceiling Grid Fan Tray | HyperMax / Hyper Flow | |
| Airflow | Up to [VERIFY: 575 or 645] CFM | Up to 1,000 CFM |
| Best fit | Typical server rooms, network closets, and equipment spaces | Higher heat loads and applications requiring substantially greater exhaust capacity |
| Product | This page | Separate high-output product |
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the fan tray fit a standard 2×2 suspended ceiling grid?
Yes. The housing is designed around a standard 2×2 ceiling-grid opening. The outside dimensions are listed at 23.75 × 23.75 inches, with a 20 × 20-inch fan unit.
How much airflow does the standard ceiling grid fan tray provide?
The live DCFT page currently contains two different figures for the standard unit: 575 CFM in the description and 645 CFM in the general specifications. Confirm the correct maximum airflow before publishing this answer.
Which temperature controller should I choose?
Choose the ON/OFF version for continuous operation, the Basic Controller option for simple automatic temperature activation, the Advanced LT option for more graduated fan-bank control, or one of the advanced controller configurations when the application requires additional programming or ventilation-control functions.
How loud is the fan tray?
The current specification lists a maximum noise level of 45 dBA at 12V DC. Lower operating voltages in the 7–9V range are identified for quieter operation.
What is the difference between this fan tray and the 1,000 CFM HyperMax model?
The standard unit is intended for lower airflow requirements, while the separate HyperMax/Hyper Flow model is listed at up to 1,000 CFM for higher heat-load applications. Confirm the standard unit’s final CFM rating before publishing the comparison.
